Our venue is the Nest, located on Custom House Quay, Sligo.
The Nest is an all-ages, alcohol free community arts centre.
We are working towards: 1st floor - a café and a gallery/workshop area. The 2nd floor is a large workshop / rehersal space. Backyard: open outdoor space and studios.
The Nest was acquired thanks to the Arts Council of Ireland funding in 2011, the Young Ensemble Scheme, to establish a youth-led, multidisciplinary arts venue. We were then successful in grant aid from the Department of Children & Youth Affairs to bring our venue up to Fire & Accessibility standards. This was administrated by Pobal through the Youth Cafe Capital Grant. Our latest grant is to develop the Nest into an all year round usable space. This has been awarded from the Rural Development Fund administrated by Sligo Leader. The grant has insulated our venue & installed a heating system. This work is to be complete in the summer of 2018.
The building has 2 storeys and was previously a retail unit.
